• Minden Music — Free House Concerts!

    JUNE 7 | JULY 19 | AUGUST 16

Our family’s 20-year run of producing or assisting in live music events ended when the world stopped in 2020. But we made too many friends along the way and we needed an excuse to see them, so we built a little backyard stage! Welcome to Doug & Mindy's House Concerts in Minden, Nevada.

THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS! Our house concerts are free social events. No tickets are required. We take no payment. The purpose of this website is to handle RSVPs. (We only have room for about 50 attendees and our email list is approaching 200.) Once we reach capacity, we'll mark the date FULL.

    JOIN OUR EMAIL LIST!

If you received an email from me, you're already on the list. If you discovered us another way, or if you need to update anything, use the form at the bottom of this page. Shows are only advertised through the email list!

    HOW TO RSVP

Click HERE or in the menu. Again, the House Concerts are free, but donations to the artists are highly encouraged. Online donations* accompanying your RSVP assure your party preferred seating. You can also donate in person, but no preferred seating.

*Online donations go to the artists and are not refundable. Support live music!

    ABOUT SEATING

    - We have enough chairs for about 20 around the perimeter. If you have regular-width folding camp-style chairs, please bring them. (Or any other chairs.) Please DO NOT bring the modern, extra-wide-with-wide-armrest style chairs. (Two of those take up three spaces.)

    BYOB (Actually "BYOD & NBG")

    - Bring your own drinks and non-breakable glasses. (If you want to snack, please place your snacks under your seats and snack on your lap — there will not be any tables.)

    TIMES

    - Snag your seats beginning at 6PM. The house band will warm you up around 6:30 and we'll kick off the "show" around 7PM.

    ADDRESS

    - We will send our address when you RSVP. You can also text me at 775-220-0995.

    WEATHER

    - If precipitation is in the forecast, we'll move to a nearby indoor location and will give you details in advance.

We hope to see you this summer!

  • Richard Smith

    Saturday June 7

Richard Smith is a British guitar phenomenon, now out of Nashville. He was a childhood prodigy and protégé of guitar greats Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, plays often with the amazing Tommy Emmanuel, and is the only player I have ever seen that inspired Tommy to bow down and perform the, "I'm not worthy" gesture.

Beware: If you're a player, Richard is one of those individuals who might inspire thoughts of going home and burning your guitars. He is that ridiculously talented.

  • Victoria Vox

    Saturday July 19

Since 2009, when she headlined our very first ukulele festival, I have admired Victoria's songwriting, creative drive, and constantly evolving bag of tricks. I consider her talent to be on par with the superstar singer-songwriters of my younger days. She's not only an award winning songwriter, she's also a wonderful vocalist, an accomplished mouth-trumpeteer, and an all around engaging entertainer. Mark your calendars now, Saturday, July 19!

  • Michael Powers

    Saturday August 16

Michael is a consummate entertainer and brilliant guitarist who I coerced into adding ukulele to his act about 15 years ago. He weaves stories and sounds into his performances, (as you'll see in this video, as he imagines what it might have been like if James Brown had been a jazz artist.)

A Michael Powers show is a blend of Santana, George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, and more — many of whom he has performed with!

  • September Date TBA

And there's a house band full of pirates!

You may be treated to a short opening session by our house party band, loosley known as Roger's Rat Pack. We're an ensemble of nylon stringed instrument players, mostly ukuleles, with occasional appearances by violin and classical guitar.

  • What might you expect at Doug & Mindy's House Concerts?

Well, if it was a few years ago, you might have caught this, as our Chihuahua Mo offered harmonies to Talking Heads' Psycho Killer. Sadly, Mo has lost most of his hearing and no longer sings, but it's always a good time! And since we're outside, it's not unusual for a low flying squadron of Canadians, (geese that is) to buzz the festivities.

All shows are free! Donations to the artist are highly encouraged, and don't forget to BYOB!
